In November 2020, the Justice Services Division was split from the legal division to more effectively serve the needs of the Nation. Justice Services is now comprised of Victims Services, the Child and Youth Victim’s advocate, and the Court.
In the fourth quarter of 2020 alone, Victims Services served 8 clients and completed the South Carolina Certification for Victim Service Providers Training. The Child & Youth Victim Advocate also created an Outreach Plan to begin building connection with our citizens.
The Tribal Court is nearing completion of the planning phase and hopes to open in early 2021. Court personnel completed White Bison training on culturally sensitive addiction recovery treatment. The Court will also be soliciting bids for bench construction and hiring both a judge and bailiff.
