KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. – With the upcoming opening of the Catawba Two Kings Casino introductory facility, the Catawba Nation Gaming Commission has launched a website, gamingcommission.catawba.com.
The responsibility of the Catawba Nation Gaming Commission is to regulate gaming within the jurisdiction of the Catawba Nation. The Gaming Commission regulates Gaming Operations, Gaming Establishments, and all other Persons subject to the Gaming Commission’s licensing authority pursuant to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The Gaming Commission ensures that all gaming conducted within the Nation’s jurisdiction is conducted in conformance with Gaming Commission Regulations, the Tribal/State Gaming Compact, and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
The Catawba Nation Gaming Commission leadership team is made of three Commissioners, an Executive Director, and Director of Compliance. The Commissioners and Executives all have extensive experience in Tribal gaming law and regulations. Commissioner Teri Poust previously worked as a partner in the Indian Law Practice Group of Holland & Knight LLP, as well as a Commissioner with the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC). Commissioner Rory Dilweg represents Native American Tribal governments throughout the United States in all aspects of the law. Commissioner Matt Stewart was appointed as the first tribal citizen to the Catawba Nation Gaming Commission and works as an Engineering Manager in enterprise identity management and security. Executive Director Dennis Nelson has a lengthy history of working with tribal gaming commissions, including providing consultation and services for dozens of other Tribes. DeeDee Foxx-Gillis, Director of Compliance, is a member of the Catawba Nation and has considerable experience in local government.
